LA PIEVE DI SANT'ANDREA A CERCINA
Sul pianoro sovrastante il Castellare di Cercina, su quella che fu un’antica via di comunicazione, c’è l’antica Pieve di Sant’Andrea con addossate la Canonica ed alcune casette.
Custodisce una medievale statua lignea di Madonna col Bambino che la storia vuole arrivata qui nel 1486, nel trasferimento dalla Francia a Roma. Essendo in Francia molto adorata, un Cardinale voleva che avesse un posto degno nella capitale della cristianità. Era trasporta a dorso di mulo, con tanto di scorta e genti che accorrevano al suo passaggio. Giunto alla nostra pieve, il mulo s’impuntò e più non volle muoversi, nonostante le bastonate dei barrocciai e le spinte dei popolani.
Il Cardinale, che veniva di seguito, ordinò di scaricare la statua dal mulo. Appena fu fatto, il mulo cadde morto. Impressionati tutti da tale fatto, il Cardinale lasciò la statua nella piccola pieve, dove è ancora adorata e tutelata da una sua Confraternita.
On the plateau on the Castellare of Cercina, along what was an ancient way, there is the church Pieve of Saint Andrea, with the pastor’s house.
Inside there is a medieval wood statue of Madonna with Child that the story wants arrived here on 1486, during its transfer from France to Rome. Strongly adored in France, a Cardinal wanted to move it to the capital of Christianity. It was carried on a mule under escort and many people went to assist its passage. Arrived at our church, the mule stopped and didn’t want move on. No help from the beatings and pushing . The Cardinal ordered to discharge the statue from the mule and, when it was just off, the mule collapsed down and died. This was seen as a sign and the Cardinal disposed that the statue had to stay forever in the Pieve of Saint Andrea, where it is still adored and treasured by a Confraternity.
