At the top of one of the Baden Hill's in the Gibney Forest. Also known as the Sandhills. The view can probably only be seen in the winter, early spring or late fall when the trees are without leaves.
The Baden Hills are four glacier-made kames near the community of Baden in the Township of Wilmot, Ontario, Canada. Because of their elevation, up to 434 metres (1,424 ft), they have been used for radio and TV transmission towers, most notably Baden Tower on the highest and eastmost hill that hosts the antennas for Kitchener's CKCO-TV. They can be seen from practically anywhere in Wilmot Township and beyond. A kame is a geological feature, an irregularly shaped hill or mound composed of sand, gravel and till that accumulates in a depression on a retreating glacier, and is then deposited on the land surface with further melting of the glacier. Kames are often associated with kettles, and this is referred to as kame and kettle topography. The Baden hill adjacent to this one has reportedly the highest elevation in Southwestern Ontario at 434.0 m above sea level. A large communications mast is located on top of the this hill. A great view on a clear day. Just north of the hill with the tower is a kettle lake. ***watch for poison ivy in areas*** Congratulations to Laur-El and Baax on the speedy FTF!
