The first International Geocaching Day falls on the 20th Aug this year, which is the third Saturday of the month. There will be a mega event at Groundspeak HQ (Seattle, US) on this special day but it will be very challenging to have all of us travel 8,000 over miles to join in the celebrations. And so, we decided to organize our very own International Geocaching Day Out right here at home and we hope that YOU can join us for a day of fun and non-stop geo-chatting. Families, kids and pets are welcome!
Time: 20th Aug 2011, 11.30 a.m. – Anytime
Venue: Bedok Reservoir Park (nearest carpark: Carpark A situated on Bedok Reservoir Road)
Activities for the Day:
(1) Forest Adventure
This is NOT going to be our usual jungle-bashing and mud-in-my-shoes kind of expedition, so no worries about getting dirty. But we will take it a level higher and try to conquer our best friend in geocaching – TREES! If you have already found all those caches located in Bedok Reservoir Park, you would have noticed that there is an aerial course built through the trees right in the park? This is exactly what we will attempt to conquer! For those of you who indicate interest in your log, we will send you more information.
(2) Cheers for Luck
Of course, not all of us are enthusiastic about exploring the tree tops. So for those who prefer to have our feet firmly planted on the ground while geo-chatting, we are having a picnic – potluck style. There is only one rule to follow – bring one food item for sharing. We shall see how creative geocachers can be when it comes to food! =P
Important: Advanced booking is essential for Forest Adventure. Hence, for all those who are interested, please post a log on this cache page before 30th Jul 2011 so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
Hope to see you there! =)
