Geocache Description:

Continuing the Poppies on Parade series, started by Mr Nibbler with a nano-cache in Thriplow, Cambridgeshire

Thriplow is a small innocuous village in south Cambridgeshire but like every other town and village in the country it has given up it's sons and daughters to the service of the country. Wherever you go in England you will see memorials to the brave souls who were lost in the first and second World Wars and Thriplow is no exception.

Most of those who died in the Great Wars were never repatriated, in fact many were never even found and the memorials are the peoples way of remembering their lost sons, fathers, brothers and friends. 2 of the men on this memorial (Flack & Unwin) died on the first day of fighting in the Somme, (1st July 1916), 75 years ago this week. Thriplow Memorial is opposite the village green and is beautifully maintained, as it should be.

The cache is in sight of the memorial and is a nano so bring a pen or pencil. The cache is wheelchair accessible.

When here please pay your respects to those people who are named on this memorial who gave up so much to keep us free. We will remember them.
