Ka-tet: Roland Deschain takes you to a shady, restful spot that Roland would appreciate. Lean back against the trunk of a tree, whittle a piece of bark or doze the afternoon away. The trees stretch tall along this path, reaching for the sky. Be wary of mugglers as you search for a bright red bison tube. BYOP and please replace cache securely when done.
Do ya kennit?
Roland Deschain, the last gunslinger of the old world, is a creature of what you would call destiny and he calls “ka.” Ka is a wheel, its one purpose to turn, and in the end it always comes back to where it started. The gunslinger’s ka turns toward an inevitable goal…the Dark Tower.
On his journey to the Dark Tower, Roland brings together a group of people to help him on his quest. They are ka-tet, a group of beings with the same interest or goal, brought together by ka or fate. “We are ka-tet. We are one from many.”
Roland Deschain is, of course, the main character in Stephen King’s epic tale of the Dark Tower. The story comprises seven books which chronicle Roland’s quest, the people he meets and kills, those who become his ka-tet, the trials they face and the family they become.
This is the first in a series of five caches that will introduce the members of Roland’s ka-tet: Roland Deschain, Jake Chambers, Eddie Dean, Odetta Holmes/Detta Walker/Susannah Dean, and Oy. If you’ve never read any of the books comprising the Dark Tower, might I recommend starting with the first volume, The Gunslinger. If you like westerns with a touch of science fiction, you will like this tale.
Go then, there are other caches than this.
