Geocache Description:

** Seasonal Note : From mid-Oct to April the historical markers are removed and you will not be able to solve the cache. It is stiil fun to walk along Perkins street to Fort Madison where the final location is **
Three Forts of Castine is an easy historical walking cache along a route with numerous historical markers approximately .75 miles from starting point to final cache location and is perfect for a picnic.

This cache is designed to park at the coordinates listed, Castine town dock, and then walk down Perkins Street past numerous historic markers which hold clues for the final cache location. The walk is approximately .75 miles and has beautiful views of historic homes and the Penobscot bay. You can also drive this route very easily. There are several take out restaurants in the immediate area of the starting point and you can grab something to eat when you arrive at the final cache location, or enjoy one of the town dock restaurants after the walk. As a bonus, there are three other caches located along the way (The Village Smithy, Trinity By the Sea, and Here Landed the First Europeans)!
