A straight forward find linked to our Odyssian theme. Our first cache Mary's favourite Spot GC1WEN6 was hidden on Kefalonia, overlooking Polis Bay, Ithaca (home of Odysseus)
This cache contains the co-ordinates for Athena who will give you the Northings for the bonus cache (she has taken the form of her familiar...an owl).
The story of Odysseus is almost at an end.
In this part of the story Odysseus found himself in the land of the Phaeacians. He is persuaded to tell his stories of adventure...of when he had tricked the Cyclops, the Sirens and of other monstrous adventures. When he had finished, the king of the Phaeacians told Odysseus to return home to Ithaca at once! A rug was spread on the deck of the ship and Odysseus slept the whole journey.
The sailors put him down on the beach still sleeping, together with magnificent gifts from Phaeacia.
Upon waking, he spent a good deal of time wondering how he was going to protect this treasure. Little did he realise he was home at last! The goddess Athena, who had protected him, cast a mist about him that kept him from recognizing his homeland.
Finally, the goddess reveals her identity and the mist vanishes. Odysseus is home at last.
Athena tells him of troubles ahead and transforms him into an old man in disguise. Clad in a filthy tunic, and using the name Eperitus, he goes off to find his faithful swineherd, Eumaeus as instructed by the goddess.He meets his son, Telemachus and hears about what has been going on in his long absence.
Help Odysseus to rescue his wife and kingdom from the local noblemen.
Within this cache are the co-ordinates for Athena, who will help you set out and deal with those would-be suitors!
She may be in disguise so look carefully...
