Part of a circular walk of just over 2.5 miles over permissive paths, public footpaths, bridle ways and pavements. There are two stretches where walking along short stretches of quiet roads is required, if walking the whole series.
Parking is available on-street in Mapperley village, or at a number of good sized pull-ins around the circuit. Wherever you park, please do not cause an obstruction; although the roads are generally quiet, there is an occasional bus service and farm traffic on the roads involved.

This cache is a small camo'd tubular container, near to one end of the bridge; take care, there is no footpath here, just a narrow verge.
If walking from #6 remain in/enter the long field, aim for the stile in the middle of the hedgerow at the eastern end, then follow the short line of oaks and skirt the field with the fence to your right, until you come to a stile. Go through the small wood to the road.
DO NOT follow the arrow to the farm track under the bridge.
If driving to this cache there is no safe parking alongside, but there is an adequate pull-in a little south of the bridge (see waypoint)
Although there are now no rail tracks under the bridge, the path of the line can clearly be seen (we'll be walking part of it later). This was part of the track linking the Mapperley Colliery (west of Park Hall Farm) to the Nutbrook Canal near Ilkeston.
Cache contains log only, please remember to bring pen(cil). There is no room for swap, Travel Bugs etc.
Congratulations for FTF, and for braving the elements, to PlasmaWave and dave&niki
