caretaker5: when i placed this cache i wanted to have it closer to the police department, to possible get two caches in the area. i thought it would be a good way for them (police) to have positive encounters with the public, as i have found caches at police stations and always got to visit with a friendly officer. this was the way i attempted to sell that to the chief when i asked for permission. he was not in agreement. he is of the opinion that we (geocachers) are all up to no good creeping around in the bushes and shadows, so i moved back here farther away from their station. unfortunately i recently learned the portion of the building closest to this hide is to be the new police station, and while i think the cache area will make it I'm sure the babies in blue would eventually have a problem with this as the same individual is still chief. i don't know if moving this away from the police station to the old station is possible as i have no idea what will become if that building, and there may be 526 issues with any other place i might be able to move to. this is also a finicky cache setup that requires constant upkeep, and as i have the ability to retire in a couple years i will not be in the area every day to work and will not be making special trips to "work" for cache maintenance once I'm no longer working. thanks to all who hunted found and enjoyed this cache, and thanks for a little extra time with this disabled to see how things played out. i hate to see it go away, but that is what must happen. i have no future plans for this area, so it should be considered free and open to anybody else who may wish to hide a cache in the area, and if somebody tries to place a cache in the area talk to the fire department and use their end of the building.
