The Church By The Vale Traditional Cache

Three Engelhardt brothers, Fred, Christ and Henry, came to the
United States from Germany in 1881, making their way to Stevens
County in 1883. Each brother chose a homestead site, the town of
Cedonia is on a part of the land chosen by Christ Engelhardt. He
gave the land for the Cedonia Church and Cemetery. It is through
the hard work and love of the Engelhardt and Dashiell families,
along with other local settlers, that this church and it's cemetery
exists today.
While we were exploring the area's heritage, we were treated to the
church bell ringing. It brought me up short, something so utterly
serene about that sound. Hillsides on either side, this valley
leading into another and a nice, country breeze made this a very
neat place to be. Enjoy the history laid out here, explore the
gounds respectfully and think about those who came before us to lay
the groundwork for our lives.
