Geocache Description:

2nd cache on the property, quick cache & dash.

For a bit of history of Gates Presbyterian Church: original gatherings began in 1820 near the corner of Buffalo & Howard roads. Formerly know as First Presbyterian Church of Gates, several buildings have been used due to continuing growth. The original dwelling was in 1833, the next were dedicated in 1844 &1908.

By the mid '60's the congregation had grown to the point that even two Sunday morning worship services were not enough to accommodate everyone. So this parcel of land was purchased on Wegman Road and ground was broken for the fourth edifice of Gates Presbyterian Church on June 23, 1968. The first service was held in the present building on November 16, 1969.

The bricks that make up the exterior walls as well as the walls of the sanctuary are called "clinker" bricks. These are basically the bricks that were normally rejected by masons because they were imperfect or defective. These "clinker" bricks represent not only that we as Christians are all unique, as no two bricks are the same.

While here, hope you find our other cache, GPS at GPC too.
