Geocache Description:

This multi-cache is a 3-stopper around the Heights, and involves baseball and baseball history.

For this cache, my brother and I wanted to create a cool multi that captured our love of baseball and its history. This is a 3-stopper around the greater Heights area inside the loop. These spots are kind of outside walking distance (at least in the summer), but you could do it on a bike, although driving between them would be easiest. At each of the first two locations, you will be looking for numbers, which will then be used to look up baseball trivia and give you the coordinates of the next location. The final cache is an Eclipse mint box.

Opening Coordinates:
N29° 47.590’ W95° 21.943’

At this location you will find a number. You should then look up who the first baseball player to have 10 career seasons with ____ hits was. Then look up this player’s jersey number.

The second location can be found by:

(Player’s Number) x 5 + 9 = ?? Then insert this number into the coordinate: N29° 4_._90’
(Player’s Number) x 2 = ?? Then insert this number into the coordinate: W95° 2_._55’
Go to this location, again, you are looking for more numbers.

Once you have these two sets of numbers, you will be creating a 4-digit number. Let’s call the number ABCD. A= the first digit of the numbers you have found, B= the last digit of the numbers you have found. CD = the sum of all of the individual digits minus 9. When you have your 4-digit number, find out what player made this number significant as a baseball stat, and then what that player’s jersey number was.

With this information, the final cache location can be found by:

Insert the player’s number into the coordinate: N29° 46.7_1’
(Player’s Number) x 3 + 5 = ?? Then insert this number into the coordinate: W95° 2_._46’

Now you have the location of the final cache. Again, the cache is an Eclipse mint container. FTF will find a prize relating to the theme of this cache, get there before Sept. 3rd to make best use of it!
