Geocache Description:

Back in March of 2008 Lisa and I placed our first cache in this location (Frequency).  I guess it wasn't bad for a first hide even though I was frequently told it should have been classified as a multi-cache rather than an puzzle.  The trick to the puzzle involved observing the sign on the other side of nearby Highway 522 that listed the AM radio frequency used by WSDOT to broadcast traffic information to passing motorists.  The cache needed to be archived because the vegetation on the near side of the highway was making it difficult to see the sign and I've heard that WSDOT will be building a noise barrier wall along this stretch of the highway soon. But honestly this isn't important now.

We're posting this new cache in the same location partly because it's a little sentimental for Lisa and me, seeing that it was our first placed cache, but more so because Frequency's FTF was logged by Allanon. His 8th FTF according to his profile page.  For  those cachers who are not familiar with Allanon, he was a well liked and respected member of the local geocaching community and WSGCA.  He passed away a year ago this July.

Our friend and fellow cacher Pyewacket  knew Allanon very well and we asked her to share what he meant  to her and others.

Pyewacket:
Brian Parkhurst, aka Allanon, aka The Froomlord, was nobility amongst the geocaching community; a gentle giant with integrity, kindness, and an eagerness to help others. His friendship wrapped around you like a soft, familiar quilt and his laughter was contagious. Geocaching was his passion, and cachers his best friends. Some of his favorite memories included caching the day away in the mountains with friends. If he had trouble maintaining their pace, he was happy to stay behind to serve hungry cachers hot cocoa and the best frito pies upon their return to the trailhead; he was content just to be a part of the camaraderie. When Brian died, it left a gaping hole in many hearts, mine included. The entire geocaching world suffered a loss, as Brian was one of its biggest advocates and most enthusiastic participants. Not in words, mayhaps, but by deeds, where it counts. Long live the Froomlord. You are sorely missed, my friend.
