This series of caches is placed to mark the path of the Kurow Branch Line. Having completed some of Onslow Fishermans caches based on the Roxburgh Branch Line I thought it was a great idea and highlighted some of the little known history of this area.
The Kurow Branch Line left the Main Line just north of this placement and crossed the Main Rd to start its journey.
The Pukeuri township consisted of a creamery, a hotel and a blacksmith shop.
The Pukeuri Junction Railway Station and Post Office was established about 1890 and was eventually colsed in 1983.
This line served a broad hinterland and carried both passengers and freight.
