Part of the Park w/View series to highlight unusual or scenic views from parking spots around town, views that most people would not notice or pay attention to.
From this site, you can see part of the sprawling Maplewood Cemetery, located in Wilson’s “Old Wilson Historic District.” According to information contained on Wilson’s city website, this district encompasses several historic neighborhoods dating from the 1850s through the 1920s. Many of the nearby homes housed early business leaders, as well as “the middle tier of merchants, clerks, and salesmen.”
You won’t hear any of those former residents’ voices now – they will be drowned out by songbirds’ trills or possibly hummingbirds’ thrumming wings.
