This spot on the south side of Coffenbury Lake at Fort Stevens State Park just begged for a cache.
This clearing used to be a busy group picnic site. The picnic tables are long gone, and now it's a lovely quiet space just steps from the parking lot and campground.
You're looking for a smallish plastic jar, painted to blend into its surroundings.
Bring your mosquito repellent because the bugs love this space too!
The parking lot nearest the cache is open usually from mid-May through late September or early October. During the rest of the year, park in the lot on the north side of the lake and hike up the road to the south side.
This is a day use area of the park, open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pom.
There's a $5.00 day use fee for this area of the park, unless you're camping there or have a season pass. Pay at the automated station in the north side parking lot.
