Prior to Hurricane Ivan, the area of this cache was a beautiful wooded area with lots of trees for all to enjoy. Unfortunately, back to back saltwater incursions from Hurricane Ivan (2004) and Hurricane Katrina (2005) proved to be more than than this forest could stand. Nearly all the trees in this area were killed by these storms and the Pine Beetles that followed.
This cache is located at the "Lonely Only" tree that is left, and it will be found on Bobcat Trail. It appears to be some type of Oak and bears many scars from its struggles through the storms that mother nature has sent its way. Although she looks rough, she still stands proud where all others have fallen.
On a happier note, while we were hiding this cache we watched a Red Bellied Woodpecker slowly work its way up to the top of the tree where there was a wasp nest. The woodpecker made a sudden lurch, grabbing the small nest and flying off with it before the other wasps could react. I expect that somewhere were some baby woodpeckers that enjoyed wasp grubs for dinner.
You are looking for a small camouflaged lock-n-lock. The cache was originally started with a life preserver and geocoin. Hopefully over time the forest will return to this area and this tree will no longer be the "Lonely Only". Enjoy.
