In 1897, a cloistered French nun died of tuberculosis at the age of 24. She appeared unremarkable in every way; in fact, she said she wanted to be unknown. Ironically, this is why St. Thérèse of Lisieux is remembered today.

In her autobiography, "The Story of a Soul," published posthumously, Thérèse described the "little way": how to find meaning in the ordinary, little deeds of life by doing them with great love. Though she was almost completely unnoticed through her short life, her legacy was so inspirational that she was made a saint only 28 years after her death.

In 1997, St. Thérèse was honored by being declared a Doctor of the Church, whose elite ranks include only 32 others from all of history. Most of the Doctors of the Church are great and learned theologians such as St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas. She is one of three women so honored (the others are St. Catherine of Siena and St. Teresa of Avila).

St. Thérèse is associated with roses, which is reflected in the color of the cache container.
