Tasersuaq means "big lake". The town gets its drinking water from
this lake, so no boating!
But bathing is allowed. The lake water is cleaned before
entering the town's water pipes.
There are a lot of flying insects in the summertime, so consider
wearing an insect net around
the head.
The cache is placed on the more difficult side of Tasersuaq. You
start at a gravel road near
the town's library. After a couple of kilometers, the gravel trail
ends, and then it's up the
mountains! You can follow the trail clockwise around the lake. The
first half of the hike around
Tasersuaq is more of a mountain hike which also requires (very)
light climbing at times.
But you will be rewarded with a stunning view of the arctic sea
with ice hummocks:
After you find the cache, you can continue around Tasersuaq.
At the halfway point of the trail you can take a dip in the water
if you dare!
After the halfway point, the hike gets much easier, a normal hiking
trail that
ends near the town's sports center.
