_________________________________
Whangarei Railway Station. Trains are run between Whangarei and Opua, the port, at irregular intervals to suit the shipping trade. Whangarei is the head station of the section. The traffic consists largely of coal from the mines at Ruatangata and Waro, and timber, mostly logs and sawn timber, from the famous Puhi Puhi forest.
