CARIERA CORABIA este un monument al naturii, situat pe teritoriul comunei Gilau, pe versantul vestic al muntelui Corabia, care îsi trage numele din forma sa iesita din comun.
Aceasta zona protejata de importanta nationala ocroteste rocile ultrametamorfice foarte vechi, de mare valoare stiintifica, care pot fi, numai aici, admirate la suprafata pamântului de geologi si turisti.
Accesul este facil, pe sosea din Gilau la cabana Somesul Rece, iar de aici în circa 15 minute pe traseul turistic marcat cu cruce rosie ce intra pe valea Bârlogu si duce apoi prin Paltinei, Mâtesti si Plopi spre cetatea Lita si cabana Muntele Filii.
În zona este interzisa exploatarea rocilor sau alta activitate ce poate degrada acest unicat.

CORABIA (SHIP) PIT is a monument located within the commune Gilau on the western slope of Corabia (Ship) Mountain, which was given its name from its unusual shape.
This protected area, of national importance, protects ancient ultra metamorphic rocks, of great scientific value that only here may be seen from the earth's surface by geologists and tourists.
Access is easy, on the road from Gilau to Somesul Rece chalet, and from here in about 15 minutes on the tourist route marked with red cross that enters to Bârlogu valley and then goes by Paltinei (small Sycamore Maple trees), Mâtesti and Plopi (Poplar trees) to Lita Village and Muntele Fili chalet.
In the area the exploitation of rocks is prohibited or any other activity that can degrade this unique place.
