The first documents date back to
1398. The official date of the town’s foundation is 1654. Up
until 1947, Yantarnyi was called Palmnicken. The town of Yantarnyi
is situated on the shore of the Baltic Sea, in the north-west of
the Kaliningrad region, 50 km off the city of Kaliningrad. The town
became the centre of amber mining and processing, 90 % of amber
production being processed there.
As for the
cache: In view of the fact that there are only two caches available
here in the Kaliningrad region, we decided to launch other two.
This is the first one. Dear cache hunters, change the logbook if it
gets full. Thanking you in advance, on behalf of the team
ottik5+Alice5.
