Crook Trail Trick Tank Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

46 Zulu 50: I received a message over the weekend from a cacher who went out to look for this one and couldn't find it, wondering if it still existed. It was last logged as found in 9/21.

We drove out there today and the cache is indeed gone. Even the log it was hidden in, is gone. This one had gone missing once before and was replaced. Time for it to be archived.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located near a water catchment alongside the General Crook Trail, also known as the "Old Verde Road".

This cache is located along Forest Road 166, near a meadow known as Phoenix Park.

As you drive the road, you'll notice white chevrons nailed to trees on the route, marking this as part of the General Crook Recreation Trail. This is part of the "Old Verde Road" which ran from Fort Whipple in Prescott to Fort Apache near present day Whiteriver.

The cache is located outside the fence of a water catchment, commonly called a "trick tank".

The cache was placed in the summer and FR 166 was dry and free of mud, passable by any type of vehicle. This is probably not the case during the rainy season and it is probably inaccessable in winter.
