Geocache Description:

An area in Lamont that originally had a small monument commemorating the visit of the Queen back in 1978. In 2021 a memorial was placed to honour those killed in a horrific bus train accident in 1960.

The cache only contains a log sheet, bring a pencil!

It was November 29, 1960 when a group of high school students from Chipman boarded a school bus bound for Lamont. The bus was struck by a freight train while crossing the tracks in Lamont, killing 17 people on board.

Front view of memorial showing pictures of those that lost their lives in the accident.

NOTE: The map shows that the Cache is located on a railroad track. This is not the case. There is a fence separating the cache from the rail road track. However if you were to approach the cache from a direction other than the Parking Waypoint indicated you could possibly have to cross the track at some point. DON'T DO THAT!!!

Please park at the Waypoint indicated and access the cache from this area.

As always bring something to write with. A pen or pencil should be in every cachers geo-toolbox.
