After the first back at work, we just had to get out and explore. We left at dark, the sky threatening rain. We parked at N40° 16.867, W122° 10.743, shortly thereafter, your vehicle really needs to be a 4wd with clearance, if you want to drive.
We followed roads (some on a usgs topo, and some not), then a trail (not on a topo). That got us close to where we decided to cut down off trail to Paynes Creek. The two pairs of eyes that watched us kept us from going too far down.
We stashed the cache at a little tributary that flows down to Paynes Creek. It was very cool looking at night, we'll have to go back during the day and look again. The container is a .5 gallon igloo thermos wrapped in plastic with camo duct tape around it. It is wedged between two rocks, with a few rocks on top of it. Look for the BIG boulder, and that's where it is (on the north side).
Contents include:
watch, bandana, pen, I love bats bumper sticker, electronic pocket organizer (1st generation PDA :) ), waterproof money carrier. Also, the thermos is for the taking if someone brings a suitable container to transfer everything to.
YOU WILL GET WET (in the wintertime)
Have fun
