Geocache Description:

This cache is to honor my Grandfather. He was a WW2 Army Infantry Veteran that took me under his wing when I was young. We had many common interests. I spent a lot of time with him, He was my best friend. My Grandfather taught me about the outdoors, gave me my first BB gun, bow and arrow. He showed me how to navigate using a magnetic compass, and many other methods to survive in the woods. After he passed on I inherited his tackle box and fishing pole. It was like being given a treasure chest of gold. Thank-you for teaching me about the value of life and to have respect for others. We normally didn't talk much about that war but I know it was really tough on you-mainly the Battle of the Bulge. Spending time with you many years ago maybe I helped out in a small way for some support doing our outdoor stuff. Time really flies by. I was going to place this cache by Fort Snelling but I know you would agree this spot is similar to others we have enjoyed visiting, and it keeps you close to home for me. Thank-you yellowdogs and Mn-treker for the help you gave me regarding some of my sites including this one. That was awesome of you! Very much appreciated by me.
