E_Zii: Well I am now archiving this Geocache, as I am unable to continue maintaining it. I hope that someone else decides to replace the Geocaches in this really interesting district, to continue drawing people down here.

Farewell Bearii, it was a great 17 years, but life takes me in a different direction now and I must see where it the journey takes me.

Geocache Description:

The Bearii Flood Tree cache is a historic marker, showing the level an extreme flood event in the region reached in 1891.

The Bearii Flood Tree shows how high up the water reached in 1891 - a "100 year flood event". The nail in the tree shows the height...stand next to it and look over the paddocks to imagine how much water that must have been!

If you are also finding the other Bearii caches, take a look at the Strawbale house; believe it or not that is built above the level of the 100 year flood event (good thing, I imagine mud and straw don't hold up against flood water so well...) that this tree indicates; hard to believe given how flat it is out here!

The container itself is very small, but there is no need to damage the tree in any way to grab it. The cache is a small container with no room for swaps and please remember to bring a pen.

Please take care when parking to grab this cache; there are safe parking options off the road (don't get bogged)but you need to keep an eye out for traffic and the geokiddies/beasts as appropriate!
