Geocache Description:

Welcome and after you park, you are looking for a small tube. Please replace carefully. Note the cache is not technically in the ravine. Please always stay on the path. The entrance to Bartlett ravine will take you down 100 feet in elevation over 0.80 miles to the lakefront. Dogs to the left/north and people to the right/south. Please stay on the trails/walks as rare flowers exist. Bring a writing tool and maybe other tools.

Barlett ravine starts with 3/4 mile curvy path through deeply wooded Ravine where Highwood and Highland Park, Illinois meet. This walkway will bring you to over a mile of undeveloped Lake Michigan lakeshore. This is pretty rare footage considering Illinois has only about 60 of these lakefront miles.

For now, Bartlett Ravine & the spectacular lakeshore is a little secret. Only recently acquired from the Navy by Openlands, a regional conservation organization. "When we opened the preserve last fall, it enabled people to explore a natural environment that had been off limits to the public for over a hundred years, including more than a mile of Lake Michigan shoreline “Now we’re using art to enhance visitors’ experiences and help make this a ‘learning landscape’ for people of all ages and abilities.”
