The log is in a waterproof container in a sock with a rock in tied about 60 cm below the container. All of this is below the Southwest corner of the dock. During lower water levels the depth is about 4 to 5 metres. Many muggles on warm sunny afternoons.
Here is a challenge for some Cachers or an easy one for those with certain skills (or have access to one who possesses those skills). You will be looking for a floating, grey sock about 60 cm off bottom. It is anchored by a rock. Here is the procedure:
-Pick a day or time when no muggles are about.
-Bring your swimming retriever to within 2 metres of the coordinates.
- Instruct that person to take a deep breath and go for it from the end of the dock.
- Look for the floating sock about 60 cm above bottom. Try to stay off bottom to avoid stirring up the mud.
-Remember! The dock is above you!
- Bring the float, cache, sock and rock back to the dock or to the beach and release your breath (very important).
-Untie the sock and recover the cache container.
-If wet, dry the cache container, and the Rite n Rain log sheet. Sign the log and tie the sock as found.
-Take another deep breath and return the whole assembly to its hiding spot as found or just gently allow it to fall. You are on your own now.
The lifespan of this type of cache is usually short so get it before the muggles or a fisher person gets it.
The structure around the cache site is left all year so that will not be an issue and it will be quite flabbergasting to see a log after October. The water is not only colder then it rises as much as 6 feet.
