Geocache Description:

Essington Oak
Parking available off Brownshore Lane

One of a couple in this area, others to follow in a similar vein.

This area was once an open cast mining area that has been turned into a pleasant open public area. There are two pools and some areas of woodland and grassland. The Friends of Essington group have made a great job of making the area very attractive. They have planted many native British trees and put up bird and bat boxes. We have seen green woodpeckers among the many birds that nest there and we have detected many bats there.
