My last venture here,by cannon,I woke.
My sea legs still stumbling,my treasure chest broke.
After one night of swashbuckling and rum all around
I found my ship run up on Oneida aground.
My first mate was firing at mermaids and beasts
From the Depths of Oneida,so cold, dark, and deep...
You may visit this place, though not sail the water of Captain Shinehead and Molly McMartin's own daughter.
Oneida we named her
In this valley she lies
A giver of life with sunset in her eyes.
At dusk her real treasure is a breath takin' view
A chance for her portait in all pretty hues
In summer her waters are slender and mild
With spring's inundation, she's filled full and wild
Many fisherman come, many fisherman go 'round her to
The north, east, and west as we know
But there at her feet, near the levee you'll find
A booty of treasure of a different kind
Her guard there may not be crossed by the likes
Of cachers or pirates, nor mermaids, nor sprites.
