Last Sunday I spent the entire day up at Pulaski doing geocaching related activities. I worked up quite an appetite so I stopped at the grocery store on the way home to grab something for dinner. As it turns out I was only in the mood for fruit, given the outside temperature. I proceeded to the "12 items or less" lane with my one item, only to find a couple with an entire cart full of items ahead of me. Ten minutes and $200 later they leave. The woman in front of me is next with her handful of items. And she is quite the chatty sort. So chatty in fact, she doesn't stop talking after her transaction is done and I am standing there waiting to pay for mine, as my bag sits there longing for me to pick it up and leave.
Chatty-kins finally leaves, I pay for my fruit, the cashier hands me my receipt and says "have a nice night." Well, at least she was pleasant. I looked at her and asked, "where is my bag?" She had no clue. It was nowhere to be seen or found. Turns out Ms. Chatty-pants took it and walked off with it. We had to chase her down and ask for it back. Her reply? "Well she put it in front of me so I took it. Sorry."
At that point I just left the grocery store shaking my head in disbelief. Had grocery shopping really become that difficult? I relayed this story to two very close friends of mine and what did they say to me? "You really need to go back into the woods." And you know what? Two days later that's exactly what I did! And here's the cache to prove it.
And...there's no grocery store here.
