Geocache Description:

A short distance to the east of this ammo can is a gravel road, from which you can see an airstrip... a surprisingly tiny airstrip. This is Schiveley Field, home of the Houston Sport Flyers RC aircraft club. (Please do not trespass by crossing the gravel road. The cache is located on public land.)

The patron saint of aviators, St. Joseph of Cupertino was an 18th-century Franciscan friar best known for the improbable gift of being able to fly through the air. His legendary levitations, described as being frequent, very high, and often witnessed by many, resulted from "ecstasies" (overwhelming experiences of love) at hearing the name of Jesus.

Less well-known was his signficant learning disability. He also apparently struggled with impulse control (he is described as having a quick temper) and other mental disadvantages (he was often found wandering with no idea where he was). Despite his great difficulty with studying, a run of good luck (some would say... bordering on divine intervention) during examinations led to his being admitted to the priesthood.

In his later years, Joseph became immensely popular and had to be moved around Europe repeatedly because of the problems with local crowd control.

The best place to park is in the subdivision to the north. This cache is meant to be fun for school-aged kids, but the blackberry brambles (and occasional ancient strand of barbed wire) are probably too much for really little ones.

The can is full of assorted aviation-themed swag for trade. CONGRATS to Sallay and mduggan90 for (simultaneous) FTF!
