There are about 35 species of pine tree found throughout North America. Pines are evergreens with long, needle-shaped leaves. The female flowers of the tree are called cones. The white pine has needles growing in groups of 5.
Please be respectful of campground sites and make use of designated trails. Conservation Authority Personnel remind us that there is a small entry fee into the Conservation Area. When the attendant isn't present, there is a self service drop box by the gate house. Also make note of the park hours as the entrance gates are locked each night. Please remember that off trail hiking is discouraged as it negatively impacts the environment. The area is well populated with animals, so please leave no food and re-hide the cache before leaving. Parking is available at: N42.52.688 W082.11.204. In the off season, (October to April) parking may not be available when the front gate is closed. If you do gain access to the parking lot, please park close to the Nature Education Centre so that Conservation Authority Staff don't accidently lock you onto the property. Please rehide carefully. There are a lot of exploring young muggles, especially during the camping season
