Concordia Caboose Traditional Cache
Har_D: This cache became a favorite for muggle teens to regularly scavange through. I live to far away to properly maintain it. It was fun while it lasted.

Regular size loc-n-loc container full of toys and swag. I also added a travel bug to be moved along. Please be stealthy and rehide the container well when you are done. Be sure to bring the kids along for this one.
This caboose sits on display in the central park of my hometown, Concordia, MO. In 1990, My Eagle Scout project was to help clean and restore this caboose. I have a sense of pride and accomplishment whenever I see it. When I was a young boy the train tracks still ran right through the middle of Concordia. I remember the train would stop to be filled with grain at the Farmer's Co-Op and the traffic up & down mainstreet would come to a stand-still. We all just sat there & waited for the train to move. There was no going around. Slower times then...
This caboose is listed on www.waymarking.com so be sure to log your visit there too. Here is the text that is written on the marker:
MISSOURI PACIFIC CABOOSE
Missouri Pacific Caboose, #13645, a gift of the Union Pacific Railway Company, was located in the park on March 10, 1989. Union Pacific donated the caboose on February 17, 1989, a reminder that from May, 1871 to July, 1982 a railroad ran from Lexington to Sedalia through Concordia.
The Lexington and St. Louis Railroad Company was Incorporated on December 9, 1859, and from the 1880's to the 1930's this was a busy track. Passenger service was discontinued in the 1940's, and the last freight train rolled over the track on July 29, 1982.
The depot was sold and relocated in 1976. With the abandonment of service and track removal, the Missouri Pacific Railroad Company donated the Central Park, with an appraised value of $56,408, to the city. This had been leased from the Company since May 11, 1911.
