This cache is located at the Greenbury Point Nature Area, just across the Severn River from downtown Annapolis. You can only reach the area via Greenbury Point Rd.
NOTE: Access to the Nature Area is sometimes restricted when the midshipmen are practicing marksmanship or have otherwise taken the area over. There is no set schedule for this that I am aware of, but it seems most likely to happen on Thursday or Friday afternoons (and never on weekends, apparently)
The Three Sentinels are radio antenna towers which the Navy once used to communicate with submarines. They are no longer used for that purpose, which has opened up this interesting area for walking and other pleasures of the outdoors.
Parking is available at the visitors center, and the cache site may be approached via "West Road" As you walk down West Road, you'll get a nice view of the Naval Academy grounds and the skyline of downtown Annapolis. When you turn toward the east, a sweeping view of Kent Island and Chesapeake Bay presents itself. You can also see the Bay Bridge off in the distance. The area has not been heavily traveled on my visits there, but it is not unusual to see people walking dogs, strolling, birdwatching, etc.
The cache is in a clear medium sized Tupperware container with a blue top. It is not in plain sight. The contents have an Annapolis and Maryland theme: two pencils, an Annapolis pin, a red rubber crab, a red windup crab, a crab fridge magnet, a Naval Academy pin, and a Naval Academy beverage holder. There are also items from other caches around the U.S. of A.: an Oreo man from a cache up around Catonsville, monkey 0x01A from the Pennsylvania Monkey Cache, and a GeoCard from a cache just outside of St. Louis, MO.
There is a small disposable camera in the cache as well. Say cheese!
Please cover the cache back up when you are finished. Thanks!
