Founded in 1964, the Madison Land Conservation Trust (MLCT) was one of the first Land Trusts, both in Connecticut and the nation. This is the first of the 23 trails. My plan is to place at least one cache on each trail to encourage exploration of these wonderfully preserved natural resources in "my own back yard".
Please see the map on the Madison Land Trust website (hyperlink above). For further information about these trails, a book with comprehensive descriptions of each trail is available at the Madison public library and for sale at RJ Julia Bookstore.
Medium size pill container with log book and pencil.
Trail heads are at the corner of Blinnshed and Opening Hill Road, across from The Country School. The trail is well marked, but you have to pay attention to the blue blazes when you get to and beyond the swampy area or you could go the wrong way. In the wet season, this is a 3 star terrain. Round trip is about 1.7 miles and should take about an hour. Would suggest waterproof hiking boots or sandals you don't mind getting wet and/or muddy.
Congratulations to The Hekawi Tribe for their FTF. I've always had a soft place in my heart for "F Troop"!
