Geocache Description:

대구분지는 금오산과 보현산을 잇는 산지와 가야산, 비슬산, 최정산, 선의산, 주사산, 단석산으로 이어지는 산지로 둘러싸여 있는 전형적인 분지지역으로, 금호강과 백천이 만드는 평야지형 중앙에 대구가 자리하고 있다.
지질은 대구분지가 위치한 지역에는 하부 신라층군이 넓게 자리하고 있다.
북부 산지는 중성 화산암류를 비롯해서 불국사화강암 하부 낙동층군으로 이루어져 있으며, 남부 산지에는 중성 화산암류, 중성 및 염기성 화성암류와 화강반암등이 분포하고 있다.
최초의 대구분지는 금호강의 지류인 신천을 따라 남북으로 길게 발달한 평지로서 이 지역의 서부와 동부 지역에는 파랑상의 낮은 구릉지가 넓게 분포하여 있다.
구릉지로 둘러싸인 분지는 북부의 금호강 남안 지역과 신천 양안의 일부 지역에 비교적 넓은 충적지가 발달되어 있지만, 대구시가지가 처음에 자리 잡은 지역은 침식평지가 우세한 곳이다.
파랑상의 낮은 구릉지는 대체로 밭으로 이용되고 충적지와 침식평지는 논으로 이용되어 왔다. 그러나 대구시의 인구가 급격히 늘어나고 시가지가 주변 지역으로 확장되면서 낮은 구릉지와 침식평지는 대부분이 주택지로 개발·이용되고 있다.
대구분지처럼 높은 산으로 둘러싸여 있는 지역은 분지기후를 나타낸다. 이 기후의 특징은 비구름의 통과가 어려워 비가 적고 건조하며, 여름은 무덥고 겨울은 추운 지역으로 기온의 연교차가 심하게 나타난다. 대구분지의 여름철은 도심부를 중심으로 동심원상의 기온분포를 보이는 열섬현상도 뚜렷하게 나타난다.
대구의 연평균 기온은 13.7℃이며, 가장 더운 8월 평균기온은 26.1℃, 가장 추운 1월은 0.2℃이다. 연평균 강수량은 1027.9mm에 불과하며, 대구는 전국에서 가장 더운 지역 가운데 하나로 유명하다.

Daegu basin is surrounded by Geumohsan, Bohyeonsan, Kayasan, Biseulsan, Choejeongsan, Seonuisan, Jusasan, Danseoksan typical of the basin area. Geumho river and Baekcheon(stream) makes plain the terrain is located in the center of the Daegu.
