Geocache Description:

This is an unknown cache because of some unique characteristics. I hope you enjoy it! ONLY AVAILABLE DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS Sherwood Charles Schwartz (November 14, 1916 – July 12, 2011)

The Professor and…. I remember when I was a kid. I would walk home from school and when I got home I would have a big glass of milk and some cookies (probably Oreos). I would get to watch some TV. Most of the time it was Gilligan’s Island. I was eleven or twelve and it was my favorite show. Ginger was pretty. Mary Anne was pretty. The Skipper and Gilligan were funny. The Howell’s were weird. Then there was the professor; Roy Hinkley. I never gave him much thought, neither did the writers who left him out of the title song for the first season.. Looking back he was crucial to the show. He was the eternal straight man. He was not just trying to survive. He was always trying to come up with a way to save the Castaways and make up for having “Not a single luxury”. The professor was the original McGyver, building whatever they needed for the episode with coconuts, bamboo, old parts from the ship and the Radio. Oh yeah the radio, a Packard Bell AR-851 AM transistor radio (modified with a cabinet door handle and a telescoping antenna that AM radios don't need). This one device was an amazing piece of electronics. Whenever the professor needed something, the radio was always there ready to be parted out. Then after being used for one futile rescue attempt after another, the radio was always back together in pristine condition for the next episode. I give the professor full credit for that as well. I never wanted to see a reunion show – I know they happened but I want to always remember the seven stranded castaways perpetually running around a beautiful, uncharted, but busy island, having a better time than they would have had if they were rescued. So this is a salute to the castaways, go to the coordinates and (review the WAYPOINT HINT) to collect the information you will need to go and visit them because you can’t rescue them – or the fun would be over. See you at the Lagoon. CONGRATS TO YANKEE FOR THE FTF
