Bicentennial Park

Welcome to Bicentennial Park in Newtown. Located right next to the old fire department (now a museum and meeting hall) and just across from the city hall, Bicentennial Park is the second smallest park in Newtown, but has served as the focus for some of the town's history. Stroll thru the small park or have a seat in the gazebo and just enjoy the landscaping.

A former landmark of this park was the Firefighters Memorial, which was dedicated to all firefighters past and present and featured the original bell used to call the firefighters before the installation of the modern siren. This has since been removed and placed in the nearby museum.

Fire Fighters Memorial

The park was also home to a storyboard which contained a timeline detailing the important events in Newtown's history as well as map detailing important town landmarks. I believe this may also be in the museum nearby.

Limited parking for the park is available on Center St.
