Geocache Description:

This geocache can be found at the very beginning of the Grizzly Peak trail, on Grizzly Peak just outside of Ashland. It is on public land accessible by any vehicle. The views are great, and after you locate the geocache, take an easy hike on the Grizzly Peak trail through stands of old growth, and then enjoy panoramic views of the valley from several vantage points. The geochache is at 5,356 feet elevaton so it is not accessible in the winter (or even in early spring if we have a deep snowpack like we did in 2011), but it is a wonderful spot to visit when it is hot in the valley. From Ashland, take Dead Indian Memorial Road to Shale City Road, then take BLM Rd. 39-2E-9.2 to the left off of Shale City Road. There are also signs directing motorists to the Grizzly Peak trail. The cache is only a short walk from the trailhead parking area. It is a small to medium size container with a log book, pencil, and small trade items. Enjoy!
