Arabia Alliance has been blessed and honored to adopt "Rockdale Swing Bridge" on 10/17/22. Note that the hidden date is 2/19/2001. This is one of the older caches in Georgia that helped get this game we love started. If you have time, take a glance at the logs and photos reflecting the adventures over the years. As an added bonus to finding this oldie, it is being added to our AMNHA series of caches under the South River Stroll series. We like to think of this as a multiple win scenario… you get to visit a scenic area, find an older cache, take part in a fun series and collect a password to help you work towards claiming several AMNHA prizes.

This area has gone through changes since this was hidden. So, we are adding a waypoints to help you navigate the trails. Plan accordingly, bring plenty of water and make sure those batteries for your GPS units and phones are charged. Enjoy the hunt and please feel free to share any photos of your adventure.

If you want to see the bridge first - From the parking lot off East Fairview Rd SW, follow the Rockdale River PATH Trail north towards the South River. Near RC181 (around the power lines) you can turn left on to Ken Miller Loop. This path will take you to the suspension bridge on the edge of the South River. From the bridge travel back to the intersection of Rockdale River PATH Trail and Ken Miller Loop. From there, head south on Rockdale River PATH trail to the GZ.

If you want to find the cache first - From the parking lot off East Fairview Rd SW, follow the Rockdale River PATH Trail north towards the South River. Travel past marker RC181 (past the power lines). Continue on the PATH past marker RC189. You will be near the GZ when the PATH starts to make a left (bearing Northwest), you should be able to step off the trail to the GZ. From the GZ, hop back on the Rockdale River PATH Trail and follow it in a southwest direction. Follow this trail to the intersection of Rockdale River PATH Trail and Ken Miller Loop. Turn right onto Ken Miller Loop and travel north to the bridge.

This nature preserve, like other Georgia woodlands, has ticks during all but the winter season. Take precautions that include wearing a hat, a long sleeve shirt, and long pants with legs tucked into socks. Wear light colored clothing for ease of spotting ticks, especially deer ticks that are the size of a pin head. Use bug spray with the chemical DEET and especially spray around the ankle area. Additional info for tick prevention measures.
