Geocache Description:

Another Cricket Club Cache in the Grahamstown District

There is a saying at Rhodes University that all roads lead to Southwell and depending on which side you approach the cache from you will have anywhere from 15 to 25km of dirt road to negotiate in order to find this cache.  With this in mind, we also added a second cache nearby to make your trip a bit more worthwhile.

Southwell is another of the older cricket clubs in the district.  It seems that the 1820 Settlers took two things very seriously and built them together all over the district.  These two things are churches and cricket fields.  As you drive around the area take your time to look at the old farm houses (eg Barville Park to the south) many of which are pushing the 200 year old mark.

The cache is on the road to keep it away from muggles, but during summer feel free to pop in and watch the cricket or in winter the tennis, both of which take place on Saturdays.

The cache has very limited space, you will need to BYOP.

FTF goes to iNokia, the second time he has FTFed 4 of our caches in a day!
