This cache is to honor our summer family tradition of the "Read-a-Thon" and is appropriately located at the remodeled Newport Way Library!
Since our children were small, my husband (an avid reader) devised a program to get them reading every summer! Between Memorial Day and Labor Day each year we have had a family "Read-a-Thon". It kept our kids busy all summer because we are a very competitive family, and there were prizes on Labor Day! When the kids were little, the prize was a candy bar; that progressed to CDs or money or gift certificates and last year everyone got a Kindle! Prizes (provided by Mom) are awarded for various categories such as "most books", "most pages", "most ususual title", "shortest book", "longest book", etc., just so everyone gets a prize. Our kids are all grown and out of college, but still participate every year tallying their books and pages on our FB page!
For you parents of young children, besides geocaching, this is a great summer activity to stimulate the mind!
Container is a 10" x 2" cammoed cylinder containing as original swag: Bookmarks! (Please only take one, or trade.)
