Welcome to Camp Abenaki, one of only three remaining cabins from Camp Pinecrest – a girls camp from the 1960’s and 70’s. If you have ever boated on the Songo River, you may know this area well with its beautiful beach, brown cabins and signature “boat house” on Brandy Pond. Back in the day, this was the place to be! Many affluent girls would spend their summers here at Pinecrest. Horseback riding, kayaking, baseball, tennis, hiking, and biking were on tap daily. Today, the camp has been sold to many private owners, but pieces of its history still remain. The tennis court, the boathouse, pump house, and many of the stone “cribs” that supported the huge docking system are still in the water around the camp.
This is our very first cache placement and hope you enjoy it along with a little bit of history!
P.S. Cache is close to the chief’s driveway (and garage), which we do not have permission to park on…please be respectful and park on the road. Thank you and “happy caching!” Please replace cache as found and re-cammo as needed. Thank you
