Parking room on the left, and great view over farmlands, but you will need to cross the road to pick up your first egg - don’t get yourself ‘scrambled’ in the process... Rehide carefully - we don’t want to break any eggs :)
Putting Your Eggs all in one Basket?
Being inspired by Riser5 and his ‘Lost my Lunch’ series and Grobyc and his A-Z series I thought I’d like to do a small ‘trail’ to take fellow cachers on one of our more scenic drives. The series is based on some eggs I got and could make a great “Easter Egg hunt” although I’m sorry that the eggs are too small for swaps :(
The trail is designed to be started from Hikurangi, head out to the coast and then back into Whangarei via Glenbervie - in this way most of the caches, and all of the parking spots, will be on your left - and most of the views will be on the left too.
There are other caches along this route that you can get if you haven’t already - starting with several around Lake Waro in Hikurangi.
I lost reception in some areas so be warned that you may like to download the info before you get into the dodgy reception area. Tikitours trusty GPS unit was still able to operate so I was able to get co-ordinates but please let me know if you get more accurate ones.
Please note that just like real eggs these eggs are somewhat fragile - to help them last longer I’ve put some tape over the hinged part - please hold egg with tape side in your palm and gently squeeze sides to make egg ‘pop’ open to reveal a log only. All eggs are in zip-lock bags to help protect them and please rehide well in their wee ‘nests’ - repair nests as needed - Thanks :)
I hope you ENJOY putting your eggs in one basket and enjoy some of Northlands best scenery. I hope you’ll take all day and spend time at some of the lovely bays you’ll be visiting. Toilets are available at many of the bays and you will also be passing cafes :)
FTF = SaltyCacheNutZ - Congratulations
FT finish series = Riser5 and Minimaxy - Congratulations guys
There on Placement [TOP] - my mate tikitour - thanks for all the help and co-ordinate checking :)
