Flood Mark close to Vaalkop Dam in North West.
On our way to a holiday resort for the weekend to celebrate our grandson’s birthday, we decided to visit the Vaalkop dam. On our way to the dam we came across this “obelisk” indicating the flood level in1996 and 2000. I can only assume that it was the water level when they opened the sluices during these two years because it is quite high, and I doubt it whether it is flood levels due to rain. There is a short piece of dirt road, but if you are careful, it can be driven with a “platkar”.
Next time the water level rise that high the cache will “drown” and will not be available anymore.
