This area is where my grandparents lived back in the day and now my brother lives there. This peninsula use to flood every time they would get a North Easternly wind, because it will push the lake waters to this end of the lake. The whole area would disappear under water, in some areas it could be as deep as 4 to 5 feet. Most of the homes have been raised up several mason blocks. Back in the 60's and 70's they use to control the height of the lake for shipping reasons. That is part of the reason for all of the retaining walls around Luna Pier. The volunteer fire department use to sit where the fenced in basketball court is today. You passed the new fire station on Summit street when you came back to the cache.
