Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates. Bring your own ink pad.

This is a letterbox hybrid cache. Please follow the directions below to find the actual cache. Please use extreme caution as this is a very high muggle area! Have replaced the cache four times in just over a year.

Dead Cat Alley is one of Woodland's most unique places. Along this tour you can grab a premium cache near the beginning and two virtuals at the end!

Woodland is also full of history. Come on a Tuesday afternoon and you can take a free tour of the Woodland Opera House, the smallest state park in California.

This walk will take you along Dead Cat Alley. You will find at least 13 cats hanging around on the tops of buildings - one for each life I suppose! These cats are creations of artist Gary Dinnen and were a part of Woodland Art Center's Nine Lives Project.

This short walk (.25 mi) will take you to some unique historical markers. You will be very close to some great food should you decide to stay in Woodland for a while.

Begin at the stated coordinates. Walk East until you see a corrugated building on your right. The first historical plaque - a beautiful mosaic - titled "China Town Ends" will be found there. There will be an orange tabby cat overhead just before you reach the building.

Keep walking East. Don't forget to look for cats on the building roofs! There will be an angel cat watching over your journey. Carefully cross over College Street and continue down the alley. The second historical plaque is "Original Railroad". Cat #3 is directly overhead.

Continue walking East to the third plaque, which is brightly colored. Learn about Woodland's China town. Along the way you will notice an owl and cats #4, 5 & 6. Cross over 1st Street. There is no street sign but please watch for traffic.

Continue along the alley and see the 4th plaque and discover how Woodland began! Between here and 2nd street you will see a cat family, a Dead Cat Alley logo and the Devil Cat atop of 666 Dead Cat Alley.

You will finish your tour at Second Street. To your right is the Woodland Opera House. Tours are available on Tuesdays from 1 - 4PM. The cache is located a few steps past the Second Street intersection and along side a place to get a haircut that will be on your left, just west of the tree that's under a large address whose numbers and letters are mounted on the brick wall. This is also one of the virtuals along the route. The last cat is somewhere above the cache.

Finish your tour by walking back to your car via Main Street. There are historical walking tour maps (to purchase should you decide to stay and take a look at our fabulous architecture) available at many of the excellent stores along Main Street.
