This cache is one of three caches that were placed along the former Gunner’s Walk at North Head, Manly. Unfortunately, one of the caches (North Head #3 - WATER TOWER) went missing and is now archived. The whole walk is 2.7km long. It starts at the Gatehouse Visitor Centre at North Head Sanctuary.

You can also download it in jpg form from links provided below but, unfortunately, they aren't great resolution so you'll need very good eyesight to use them.
Limited parking at the Visitor Centre is free. To get there, drive up Darley Road past Manly Hospital and through the Parkhill Arch. Continue driving a short distance and turn left at Gunner Road, where you’ll see the “Welcome to North Head” sign. Alternately, you can start the walk at North Fort, where there is ample free parking.
In the early 1930’s, a stone wall was built to separate North Head Reserve from the Quarantine Station, which was still in use at the time. It was built by men who had lost their jobs and had families to support. The building of this wall was part of the government’s Unemployment Relief Scheme during the Depression.
The stone wall at North Head is quite long and this cache is placed near the Observation Post, where there the path turns and there is a doorway through the wall.
The cache is hidden on WEST side of the wall (NOT the side with the Observation Post) and to the NORTH of the doorway.
While walking to the geozone, trust your GPS. There used to be signs for the “Gunner’s Walk”, but they have been removed since the cache was first placed.
Since this cache is a nano, it only contains a tiny logbook so BYO pen/pencil and only write your initials since there is not space for more. It can be quite hard to get the logbook out, so I recommend that you take a toothpick or something similar along to try to get it out.
* No need to rummage around the bushes or climb the wall to find this cache. You probably want to avoid the bushes and tall grasses since ticks can be a problem - as is the case in many bush areas in Sydney!
